Frequently Asked Questions

When was bottlegreen founded?

bottlegreen was founded in 1989 by husband and wife team, Kit and Shireen. Our founders were wine makers by trade, inspired to create something extraordinary. They began experimenting with elderflower that grew on the lanes surrounding their Cotswold factory and the rest was history! Our Hand-Picked Elderflower cordial was created. Kit and Shireen were passionate about creating the best products and so, they adapted a unique filtration process, traditionally used for winemaking, to filter out all of the impurities and sediment to deliver exceptional quality. This technique is still used in our factory today.

Our founders ethos, care and attention remains at the heart of everything we do. It built the foundation of not only who we are today but who we will grow to be in the future.

Where are you based?

Our Mill is still based in the heart of the Cotswolds, where the bottlegreen story began.

Is the range suitable for a vegetarian, vegan and coeliac diet?

All of our products are suitable for vegetarians. We do not use any animal-derived ingredients in our bottlegreen products with the exception of honey that is used in our Ginger and Lemongrass cordial and Presse products.

All bottlegreen drinks are naturally gluten free and completely safe to drink if coeliac.

Is bottlegreen kosher/halal?

We do not hold Kosher/Halal certification for any of our bottlegreen products.

How long do our products last after BB date?

The product is perfectly safe to consume after the best before date provided that it has not been opened. We also recommend that the product is refrigerated after opening to ensure that you maintain flavour.

Are your drinks safe for pregnancy?

We are not aware of any reason why you should not enjoy our bottlegreen elderflower drinks during pregnancy. We would always recommend that any dietary concerns during pregnancy should be taken up with a healthcare professional or guidance from the NHS website should be followed.

Please refer to the back of pack labels for any allergenic information.

How do I store my bottlegreen?

Please store upright in a cool place away from direct sunlight. Refrigerate after opening and consume pressé within 3 days and cordial within 1 month.

Are your bottles recyclable?

Our bottles are 100% recyclable. We also use recycled glass in the production of every bottle, all as part of our sustainability goal to reduce the use of unsustainable packaging.

Why did you remove the plastic pourer?

We removed the plastic pourer from our bottles in response to the growing consumer concern that plastic has on our environment. Unfortunately, there isn't an environmentally friendly alternative to take its place. We no longer have any of these pourers in our factory. To slow down the pour and prevent sticky bottles, we would recommend purchasing a metal bar pourer which you can place in the bottle and re-use. We cannot guarantee that all pourers will fit, however they are easy to wash and can be re-used!
