Mulled Wine

A true winter warmer, no festive season is complete without mulled wine. With the rich indulgence of red wine and brandy, paired with decadent mulled syrup and the fruit flavours of cranberry, pomegranate, and clementine, whether you’re sat around an open fire or going for an autumnal stroll with your tipple in a flask, it’s sure to warm the spirit. The base for this, the Mulled Spice Berry syrup is best made in batches, ready for when you want to whip up a treat. From autumnal gatherings with friends to Christmas drinks parties with the neighbours, with this mulled syrup at the ready, the opportunities for seasonal celebrations are truly endless.

Mulled Wine

Ingredients

Serves 1
  • 50ml red wine
  • 10ml brandy
  • 50ml bottlegreen mulled Spiced Berry syrup (see below)
  • 50ml cranberry juice
  • Mulled spiced berry ingredients
  • 150ml bottlegreen Spiced Berry Cordial
  • 50ml water
  • 50ml cranberry juice
  • 1 star anise
  • 5 cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick (8cm)
  • 1/2 clementine (w/skin)

Method

  1. 01 To make the mulled syrup, pour all ingredients into a saucepan and simmer for 10 minutes. Turn off the heat and let sit until room temperature. Strain into a bottle or jug for use later on.
  2. 02 When ready to make your mulled wine, pour all ingredients into a saucepan again and simmer for a further 10 minutes. Pour into a wine glass and garnish with an orange zest or clove.
